From our class independent reading immersion and close study of chosen ABC Informational Texts we've created this noticings chart of the ABC informational text genre.

Noticings for ABC Books
- Each page has a specific letter and things to describe it
- goes in order; makes sense
- pictures on each page to match the letter and word
- sometimes it rhymes
- some books had alliteration
- repeating line
- one sounded like a lyric to a song
- adjectives
- interesting topics
- had to have a sentence with each letter to make it informational

The students worked in groups on a noticings chart for ABC books, and then we came together and created a class noticings chart:
- in an ABC order for organization
- full of illustrations for students to understand or help explain
- Letters - font size - to catch the readers' eye
- side bar - informative / full of facts
- text structure
- kid friendly sentence with each word
- flow - rhythem (sometimes)

Alliterations
Letters on each page begin with a certain letter
The same topic is used throughout the book.
Some of the books have more information about the topic.
It makes the alphabet
Goes in a certain order
Illustrations match what is happening in the sentence.

My students noticed the following things from the ABC BOOKS we used-
-one letter per page or per 2 pages
-large colorful photos or illustrations
-Very large font
-often only one sentence
-occasionally a paragraph or two per page
-often humorous
-carefully chosen words and pictures for big effect
