Page history last edited by vestmn@... 15 years, 2 months ago

From our class independent reading immersion and close study of chosen ABC Informational Texts we've created this noticings chart of the ABC informational text genre.

ABC Informational Texts Noticings Chart for Amber McDonald's Second Grade

  • Each page has a specific letter and things to describe it
  • goes in order; makes sense
  • pictures on each page to match the letter and word
  • sometimes it rhymes
  • some books had alliteration

  • one sounded like a lyric to a song
  • adjectives

  • had to have a sentence with each letter to make it informational

*ABC Informational Text:  World War II Unit: Kimberly Barnette's class

The students worked in groups on a noticings chart for ABC books, and then we came together and created a class noticings chart:

  • in an ABC order for organization
  • full of illustrations for students to understand or help explain
  • Letters - font size - to catch the readers' eye
  • side bar - informative / full of facts
  • text structure
  • kid friendly sentence with each word
  • flow - rhythem (sometimes)
